I'm not sure if the admins here have flirted with the idea of accepting payments from regulars to make them invulnerable to the dreaded autobalance feature.
good idea, bad idea or old idea?

on topic: personally, I don't like the idea of anyone being able to "buy" an advantage over other players.

Do not want.

yeah, promoting more team stacking on servers that get attacked enough for that probably isn't a great idea.

after being booted 3 out of the past 5 times i got on Valve Maps for reserved slots (so this opinion is biased and slightly in rage), i could safely say that being able to play the game while others get kicked off is an "advantage"

Being able to play while others get kicked is not so much of an advantage as being the one getting kicked is a disadvantage. Getting kicked can be frustrating so I do sympathize and I see your point.

However, this is what I think reserve slots do:

Allow players who enjoy a particular server enough that they want to donate to its operation a greater chance at being able to play on said server at the time of their choosing.

It does not, however, 100% guarantee you can play there because there is a limit to how many reserve slots can be in use at one time.

At least 1/2 of the server slots can be used by players with non-reserve slots meaning that reserve slotters cannot completely take over the server. This also means that other players, while running the risk of being kicked, still have a fair chance of getting onto the server.

What I dislike are servers where donations can get you admin, special mods or abilities in the game, immunities, etc or servers where the more money you pay, the more advantages you get.

On a personal note, why don't you just get ya a slot?

lol, i wouldn't mind chipping in, but i support my own server and also don't have any money in the first place. So i guess the best way to put my situation would be "shit out of luck"
