How would you feel if while the map was changing, there was festive music playing in the background.

Example:

This would be a seasonal thing only and probably only on some maps (or maybe just dustbowl Big Grin). Consider the point of view from yourself and the point of view from a random noobie. If too many people would be upset by this, then forget it (but I completely understand).

Also, what if instead of every time it was just occasionally? Just an idea, don't be afraid to tell me how annoying/stupid/ridiculous/whatever it is.

A bunch of players would click "Cancel" right away. Custom content scares to death some people.

And what about those who have "No sounds" download filter?

Then they won't hear it Tongue WooT?

It's not a download. Everyone will hear it. It streams and continues to play until the map has completely loaded and you go to select team (i.e. it would start when well ends and finish when you enter dustbowl).

There's no increased load time or other inconvenience (unless you consider the music itself inconvenient).

It doesn't bother me and in fact on servers I've played on that had it, it made the load time seem shorter.

That's pretty awesome.

Can you post any more?

It sounds like a good idea.

When I ran servers for [eX] very few people minded the sound clips at the beginning and end of the maps, and they had to download them.

It does very much in the ways of leaving an impression on the players, which is most of what makes servers good or bad. (servers that are bland cookie-cutter-cluster-fucks are a peeve)

what is a "load time?"

I guess we can give it a trial run. I don't know. I just want to do something for the holidays when it gets close. And since there are no xmas/snow maps....
