Prop 8 in Cali - Rostov - Nov 11, 2008

Damn Americans, get to vote on propositions all the time. At least the American public has some binding input on policy decisions with their leaders. Here in Canada we just vote once every few years and then have to put up with whatever bullshit our leaders tell us.

Sad

At least our beer is better.....

and our hockey players.

And look where that has gotten us, we have a ban on valid civil unions and a socialist terrorist for a president.

The only problem with everybody getting to vote is that most people are idiots.

Prop 8 in Cali - dynamo152 - Nov 11, 2008

avy,

So, I'm from texas, born and raised, and I've had some of the same questions. But here's what I think.

Oh and this is from a Christian perspective, so everyone else back off...

There's nothing wrong with voting for gay marriage. Christian teaching, and the New Testament in particular, doesn't say that the government should enforce morals. You can evangelize and try to convince gays that they shouldn't marry etc, but there's no reason not to extend that right to them. Plus, equality is good, and voting for gay marriage increases that.

Basically, you shouldn't make the choice for them. You can go up and tell them "hey, it's wrong for you guys to be gay, married, (w/e you have a problem with)". But having the government do that for you is wrong because you're using it to continue inequality and enforce your moral code on others, which are both un-Christian things to do...

Sounds like someone is a wee bit cranky since the Leafs wiped the rink with the Habs this past Saturday night. Big Grin

Prop 8 in Cali - Hell-met - Nov 12, 2008

That's my point. Habs are a huge letdown 90% of the time.
