Doesn't surprise me. Figured they would be waiting a while so L4D could sell better and not focus too much attention on TF2.
It's cool though, i'll be playing L4D like a crack addict when it's out

TF2 is dieing anyway, there are only about 1500 servers right now, less than 600 of which have people on them. (this is including servers that lie about their player count)
For a Saturday, that is pathetic.

Counter strike source has roughly 15000 servers, 7000 of them with people

than by your theory HL2DM should have over 10,000 servers, hell TFC should have 20,000.
The fact is that last year TF2 had about 6000 servers with a little bit more than 3000 occupied at any given time, it has steadily declined to 1500 with 600 occupied. It has nothing to do with how long it has been out
