Performance in the 24/7 Gold Rush has been pretty good since the update, similar to All Maps #1. But there are some morons on GR who find it funny to votekick "replay" and end up with 17/16 teams. Once that happens, the lag appears and is terrible until a new map with is loaded. But now most of the regulars there know to ignore the trolls, keep replay going, and the performance is great.

if this turns out to just be my connection or computer, I'm gonna feel like a real ass for dissing the server.

I was using the net_graph cmd last night and notice that whenever it gets choppy, theres a small series of alternating gaps and spikes. the gaps are dropped packets and the spikes are red and green for other players/entities. sometimes the spikes are > 4000 bytes.

still need to do some more testing

The only way to find out who is dropping packets would be to do a tracert.

well, I can see drops occurring at different nodes, nothing consistent enough to indicate a bad route. The overall packet loss using icmps to the server in question results in 0.16% drops. This doesn't seem high enough for what I'm experiencing.
