Heed the warning. Replace your disk. It's going to die soon.
SMART is telling you something has failed. This could be excessive amounts of bad sectors tons of read errors or anything. There are diagnostic tools (usually specific to drive manufacturer) that will tell you what the exact problem is.

Well that sucks. What else sucks is that nothing I did improved anything.
Now when I go to log TF2 I can't even load it. It gives me the loading... icon in the lower right and then right before it would normally load the main menu it just shuts down with no warning.
I love this computer! ^_^

okay, here are my specs:
3GB DDR2
2.2-ish ghz processor
radeon 3450 mobile (256mb)
plenty of space on hdd
vista home premium
When i first got TF2, I could get 30-50 fps constantly, and it'd drop to around 20 in intense combat, and maybe the 10's when there were 2-3 sentries onscreen
gradually though it's been dropping, to the point where I spawn getting 15fps, and walking outside drops it to 7. combat=2, and having a sentry onscreen basically freezes me...
after the scout update things have seemed a lot worse...even though i've double checked and im still playing on the lowest possible settings
ideas?

Okay so now when I go to start up TF2 it shuts down and gives me the error message:
"You must have a graphics card that supports a pixel shader of 1.1"
uh..? o.0 why would I be getting this message now?

Unless that happened when I changed to AGP I don't see how that would have happened.
Let me reinstall my drivers and see what happens.

Updating the drivers didn't work.
So wth.. why would it work just fine this morning and now it won't run

Updating the drivers completely screwed my graphics over. I had to downgrade back to the originals.
This still doesn't explain why my card has a 3.0 shader and TF2 says I need a 1.1 shader to run it...

Well I found a fix, but I'm not sure what this means. Maybe you can help on this one DF.
-dxlevel 90 +mat_forcehardwaresync 0
Adding that to the launch properties fixes the problem. I get that setting DX level to 9 is the -dxlevel 90 line.
What does +mat_forcehardwaresync 0 do and why would I have to add that now?
Also I'm hoping I can set it back to DX 8.1 because 9 just kills my FPS even more then before.
