jerclay Wrote:We're not talking about exploit in terms of simply computer science. We're talking about it in terms of allowable gameplay. For example, Robin Walker has stated Natasha is too powerful. Using your strict definitions, either (a) they intend things to be too powerful, or (b) using Natasha is an exploit.

Or © you could be sensible, and realize that not all unintended outcomes (Natasha's power), are an exploit when purposefully used.

Robin walker didn't make Natasha. Natasha being too powerful wasn't a glitch.

Your examples are all specious.

Sorry, you can't pick and choose which parts you want. It's either INTENDED to be overpowered or it's an EXPLOIT to use per your definition. You're the one that stated unintended = exploit, not me.

But good effort in trying to separate Robin Walker's opinion from the devs in general, despite suggesting an email to Robin Walker will close the door on this. Nice touch.

This argument is just devolving into semantics. In an ideal scenario, here's what happens:

1. Hell-met sees you doing potential exploit
2. He consults DF/server rules and assesses whether this qualifies as an exploit
3. He asks you (jerclay) to stop (warning might have been better than ban without notice)
4. He bans you if you keep doing it

If DF and Hell-met determine that shooting through that window is an exploit, then you have to obey that rule, whether or not it is fair/true. Yeah it sucks, but there needs to be a rule on this to prevent additional confusion. Plus in the grand scheme of things, it's not gonna make you quit the server in rage- you'll just have to be more exposed when shooting stickies at snipers.

Well, yeah... As I stated (something similar) before, if the admins feel it's an exploit to shoot them in the head as a sniper, that's the way it is regardless of how I feel about it. That doesn't change the fact that (a) there is a HUGE slippery slope in calling this an exploit, and (b) *if* it was personal, there's merit to not letting this simply be swept under the rug.

As far as (b) goes, if this was the only indicator, sure. That's just a case of an overzealous admin in my opinion. This admin has indirectly voiced their dislike of me several times before, though, and kicked me for something as benign as something or another about their success in a particular game hinging on rng crits.

Apparently hellmet kicked him because he killed hellmet with a random crit is what I'm getting from it.
