Well i'd thought I'd start this thread as it was hijacking another thread awfully quickly. I'd thought i'd post in the flame bucket only cause i know more people would have negative things to say more than positive from what I'm seen and heard.
So the question is, what do you all honestly think of the member Half-Duplex?
I personally will be the 1st to say i haven't had a prob with the dude. He does one thing right when being on from what I've seen, he gets the job done and makes sure we don't lose (or at least makes a good effort). You might hear some bitching and complaining from time to time but i honestly think it's his personally and not him trying to be an ass to anyone. I know this thread is gonna get alot of heat already but i know Duplex is cool to roll with when playing cause he wants the team to win, straight up. Trys to get the team involved and speak up when everyone wants to do their own thing and ends up gettin' themselves killed.
Again, this topic was made to split another topic that was currently being hijacked.

I was thinking of making my own set of achievements for the SourceOP servers but then I realized it kind of detracts from the whole "no mods" thing. Should I do it anyways? Thoughts?

I am Co-owner of a sourceOP server, not the host. But we share, and my administrator account will not login on another computer with the following error messages and differences between each.
Correct information as said just times out without finding a connection.
Correct information with extra 5 digit port on the end goes into a connecting loop saying
Connection error: 11004
Valid name, no data record of requested type.
Im not really sure what the second means but could some one explain The correct info?

ok this was a different server but the same rules apply i think
i joined a server, the last one in just as the round started, everything was going fine, and i was owning hard, top scorer on my team on the whole server, then POW, 5 secs before we win, i get auto balanced, losing the chance to get an achievement i work so hard to get
could you make it so low scoring players are balanced before late joining players?

Everyone knows you get more hlstats points winning than losing, even if the winning team has massively more points than the losing team. Even if you only get 3 points per kill and lose 25 points per death, you achieve game objectives and die less which result in higher hlstats score.
HLStats calculates the average skill per team (you can see it on the front page of stats.sourceop.com). Right now:
Red: 9294
Blu: 15534
Divide the lesser average by the greater average. Result will be between 0 and 1. In this case it is 59.8%. On average, team Red has 59.8% as much hlstats "skill" as team Blu.
This is our modifier. Blu team now will receive 59.8% HLstats points.
Tada, all the sudden all the good players won't join the same team, AND high skill players will have motivation to switch to losing team to turn the tides.

I enjoy hlstats, it adds another dimension to the game. I think the point values need to be adjusted to decrease conservative playing. I realize some of these may be impossible without modding the game... Here are my suggestions:
30 points for a cap makes no sense because 99% of the time the people capping had nothing to do with clearing the point. (Reduce to 10 pts).
Killing a level 3 sentry gun should be worth a lot more (25 pts) than killing a level 1 sentry gun (5pts).
Medic assists should adjust based on points of person killed (not just standard 4 points per assist)
Medics should get small amount of points for healing people in need (a lot of the time a medic will be in first place but not earn any points because they're not getting assists)
25 point penalty needs to be eliminated. It's just too much of a penalty and this is what makes people play conservatively. Reduce max penalty to 15 (but keep max points at 25 for kills).
Increase bonus points for picking up intelligence (15 pts) and don't make the player lose points unless they INTENTIONALLY drop it (not if they're killed while returning it). This will motivate players to go for the intel more.
Increase points for backstabs. Right now it's a 1.0 modifier... it should be 2 or 2.5
Increase points for headshots. Right now it's a 1.0 modifier... it should be 1.2 or 1.4
What do you think?

Just thought i'd make an intresting topic for others here who play on the server.
Who here is a regular or semi-regular to the server? Or do you play on SourceOP's server's barely ever? And last but not least which class do you play most?
I'll go first.
-------------------------------------------
Member Status: Exclusive Regular
Favorite Class: Medic
I pretty much only play on SourceOP's servers now as I've noticed I can't get a better experience for playing my fav PC game (TF2) then playing on this server
The community is kickass and I always find myself having good converstations as well as teamwork with fellow regulars.
I play the medic 9 times outta 10 but I do play Spy quite bit sometimes (especially on the new CTF Well). Demoman would have to be my 3rd best class.
Now it's your guys' turn.

I'll admit it, I don't trust snipers, by default. But, in my defense, for good reason: it's the easiest class to use trainer/aim/trigger bots with. And guess what? They're more common then you think.
So when I see things like players that get an uncanny number of headshots, regardless of the angle or amount of dodging I get curious.
And sometimes, looking over their statistics makes sense even less.
Meet: SiCk My DuCk
Can you find anything unusual about his statistics?
I'll give you a hint, skill is on thing. But sudden spikes... morons often miss-configure their trainers to hit a particular box too often. It changes the pattern of game play.
Or he simply found fairy dust and became a magic sniper (I don't believe in magic).

Hello, I have been playing at the valve map server for quite some time now lately and love it a real nice server with good people, havent been playing anywhere else. /wave kaylee paw
I'd like to ask how medics do with kicking for reserve slots, medic is my fav class and havent played it much lately due to bein kicked once for playing medic a whole map. I noticed, this was a few weeks ago i think?, that medics were getting kicked alot for reserves, due to the whole lower kill thing. How does medic work on this and is anything changed? Should I just snipe a little then change to heal nonstop? thanks for reading~

On the first stage there's a building in front of the spawn which is important to defend/attack, there's a second floor there. Pyros can using their flamethrower from the first floor to take out the shit on the second floor by using their flamethrower against the ceiling.
I was playing earlier on the SourceOP server and pyros did it several times even after I told them it was basically cheating/glitching.
Valve needs to fix this shit on the fucking double. It's unbelievably annoying and a Gold Rush stage 1 gamebreaker.
