Donations for this month are low. The servers have been completely community supported the last few months, and I'd like to keep that going. So far this month, we are $184 behind target (this is the 17th day so we should be about half-way to goal by now). I am a poor college student and don't make enough money to pay over $500 each month to keep the servers alive on my own.
If you have been thinking about donating, please do so. If you donated a while ago and are still enjoying your slot, please consider donating again.
Thank you everyone for all of your donations.

I didnt see this anywhere on the forums so I thought I would bring it to the attention of people living under a rock.

Now if you're a skimmer like myself, you'll probably miss this the first time through. We are getting not 1, not 2, but 7 SEVEN new(1 "old") maps.
5 maps for the new gameplay type.
1 for payload.
Plus cp_steel.
I dont envy your map rotation for the valve maps server DF.
Supposed release date is Aug 19th but I wont believe it until I see it.

Steam Forums Thread (shudder)

The Dallas datacenter is apparently experiencing problems with their link to Level 3. I've talked to a few people complaining about packet loss and they all route through Level 3.
I talked to support on Friday about it and they said:
Quote:Tony,
Our NOC has seen an issue with our link to Level 3 today and yesterday. Our Network Engineers have routed all traffic around that link while they troubleshoot this issue and you should no longer be seeing this problem.
Please let us know if it continues.

It has continued today, so I contacted support again, and they said:
Quote:Dear Customer;
Our network department is away of the issue with the Level 3 connection. We are working on the issue, however, we have no ETA for when it will be resolved.
Thank you for choosing The Planet. Please let us know if you require further assistance.

Nothing we can do except wait it out.
Good news though, it doesn't seem to affect the Houston datacenter. The Valve Maps 2, custom maps, and 24/7 goldrush servers are in Houston. So, if you route through Level 3 and are experiencing issues on Valve Maps 1 or either 24/7 2fort server, try one of the Houston servers for now.
How do you know if you route through Level 3?
Open a command line. (Push WindowsKey+R then type cmd and press enter)
Type:
tracert 74.54.24.194

I don't know if anything can be done to fix this, but I need to bring it up anyway. On the "valve maps, no mods" server, I'll often use the auto-retry function to get into that server, then go play in some other server for a while as I wait. Though half the time that I can supposedly join the game, I'm yanked out of my current game only to be met with a little box saying "server is full."
I'm just saying "NO DUH IT'S FULL!" and I have to once again start up the auto-retrying to get in again and once again find a different game to join.
Why does this kind of thing happen, and is there really anything that can be done about it? I've never had this happen when trying to auto-retry on any other server, so I figure it must be that there are many people auto-retrying simultaneously so all that the server can do is rudely boot me back to the title screen, thinking for a moment that a spot had opened up for me when really one hadn't.
I came close to paying for a reserved slot, but I got to reading some things around here that led me to believe that any day now a reserved slot will no longer be any good, what with so many people having them that even the people who paid can't immediately get in, and also this talk of starting a monthly payment system... No way I'd go for that.......

Mic spam via sound selector and unmute exploit (either name toggling or anti-mute).

You should get all te maps for all the TF2 servers and put them in the downloads sections.. It's annoying having to either wait for an hour or spend an hour looking for the map.

At around 8PM PST. There was a third, but I didn't get the id. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess they were friends because at first there was just one, then there were two extras.
But not a single brain-cell to rub between them.
On that not, myg0ts August 1 news update:
Quote:A user on our forums who perfers to remain nameless, has shared with us a new exploit for Team Fortress 2, that crashes the game server. While in game, open the console and type in "_resetgamestats" and hit enter. About 20 seconds later, you along with everyone else should get disconnected from the server.
Enjoy while it lasts, probably get patched on Monday or sometime next week, since Gabe is a huge fan of our news. You may also run across servers who mod patched it already as is often the case with console command crashes once they go public.
So the weenies have been doing overdrive and just getting auto-bans. Losers just can't get a break.

My graphics card has kaput. My computer won't even turn on now (I'm on my laptop right now). I need an AGP card to replace it, but they are hard to find. I found one on newegg (slightly better than the one I have now) and it should be here about Wednesday.
