I never get why people complain about skipping this map or that. The only servers I play on are the no mods/rotation maps because I like the variety.

Granted, sometimes I'm not in the mood for a map, but I always vote 'no' because I think playing the different styles can make me a more rounded player and forces me to try other classes and become proficient as a team player.

And to everyone that says, "If you want to play 2fort, there's a 24/7 server,"...sod off. If you're going to use that logic, then go play the cp/pl rotation so you don't have to worry about ctf. And honestly, I don't like the pacing and culture of any of the 24/7 servers. I play on the valve map servers because I like the other players there (mostly), and they tend to be good sports (mostly). It's a different breed that likes barebones/vanilla play, and they are generally more rounded/team players (mostly).

I'm not opposed to skipping maps, but people really should just relax and not ruin maps for those that really want to play...

...THAT being said, sometimes completely goofing off is appropriate and actually a better time than playing for the objectives.

And for the love of Pete, if two folks are going head-to-head in melee, let them go. Stop taking easy kills, stop catching them on fire. If a scout wants to take on a heavy, let them do it. There's nothing worse than just wanting to have a good fight only to be shot by some asshole wanting another stat, or challenging another player to melee only to be shot in the face--it can be funny, but mostly it's annoying as hell...

Look, just stop dogging people for liking maps. The rotation servers are there for people who like variety, let them have it.

...and I hate it when I'm having a good night as a medic, because it means I have to be medic most of the night :gaga2:

rant = done

DF, could you possibly lower the mp_timelimit on ctf_well on Valve maps #1? I feel like 35 minutes is a little excessive for that map... Mostly because I can't stand ctf_well since they changed the middle point. lol. I just get bored out of my mind on that map after 5 or 10 minutes.

I'm not sure how everyone else feels about the matter so I set up a poll.

Hey there, I'm new to these forums and fairly new to TF2 and the SourceOP servers. I picked up the Orange Box last November and have been playing pretty steadily in TF2 since then. I play almost exclusively on the ctf2fort_instantrespawn server and I'm usually able to play an hour or two per day.

In the past month or so I've really enjoyed being a sniper and have gotten 'decent' I think. I just about play sniper whenever I can unless we need to clear the bridge then I'll usually go soldier. I've seen some good snipers and some not so good as I've been learning and then I've seen some amazing ones as well. Now I know there are aimbots out there that are not allowed and as I was learning the art of sniping I didn't try to decipher if someone was using an aimbot or not simply because I didn't know what they were all about. But as I've gotten better at sniping (in my mind anyways) I've really been wondering sometimes about certain folks and whether they are using an aimbot or not.

Here's an example. Last night I was sniping away and a player comes on the other team and starts sniping my team. I start to pay attention to whether or not he's getting any body shots because a body shot tells me he's probably not using an aimbot because from what I've heard aimbots always go to the head. Ok, so, from this guy, all I see is headshot after headshot without a single body shot that I could tell. So, I even mentioned in chat: 'That guy really needs to turn off his aimbot. I haven't seen him get a single body shot yet' (I almost never say anything in chat but this guy felt too good to me). Drunken Fool was there and commented that doesn't mean he's hacking and then proceeded to show me what he meant by getting headshot after headshot; and I'm pretty confident DF is no hacker. Smile So, I can accept that: no body shots doesn't necessarily mean hacking.

But what really gets me about this whole issue is I'll see people (like this guy) be jumping around like a freaking rogue in WoW and in a split second he's scoped and headshotted someone. I mean all in the blink of an eye; and he does it EVERY time. Jump, jump, jump, scope, headshot. EVERY time. When I watched Drunken Fool he would jump around scope up and get a headshot but there was always the feeling that he was aiming after he scoped if you know what I'm trying to say. There felt like a delay. It was more like jump, run, jump, scope, aim, fire. I can understand that; it's the mark of a really good sniper. But when you jump, run, run, dodge, scope, headshot EVERY time I have a really hard time buying it.

Another example is I've been looking through the stats pages here and I see some guy (who I see all the time on the server) has a 71% headshot per kill ratio where his numbers are at 1,109 headshots out of 1,562 total kills on ctf2fort. How is that possible? And of course I can't tell if the remainder of the 1562 total kills are from body shots or from being another class.

So, am I off base here? I know my reflexes aren't what they used to be (I'm 36) but it just seems godlike for a person to fire that quickly and get headshots everytime.

So, two questions (and I'm sorry for the long post):

1) Is someone like this possibly aimbotting and is it bad etiquette to call him on it?

2) If he's not aimbotting how the heck does he do it. Can someone give me some pointers if they can?

Thanks for the input. I don't want to come across as accusatory in the future so I want to get the low down on how this all works.

I think I have it figured out but at the same time it's not making sense when I get to the end number.

Basically I'm trying to figure out the total number of choices you can make. Here's a picture that will either help you or confuse you.

I think it's as simple as doing 6 x 5 x 6 x 5. This equals out to 900 but there seems to be something missing and 900 looks a bit small compared to what I figured.

Since I don't know if I completely made it clear what I am trying to do I'll give an example.

If you take 1 from the first column, 1 from the second, 1 from the third and 1 from the last that will equal one choice.

Then if you repeat the above but in the fourth table choose 2 that's 2 choices, and so on and so on.

Help would be great if anyone knows anything. Thanks!

I couldn't stop laughing after I read the first legal item the US still allows.

The last few days on the number 1 after changing teams I've had my HUD display the last team I was on, but the character picture will display the right color. Anyone else have that problem?
