net amount vs gross amount. rep rejected.

BlackAdder Wrote:Keep in mind that PayPal uses negative numbers to display the amount of money you sent and since Net amount is calculated by subtracting expenses from Gross amount, Net amount will have a bigger number after the minus and therefore the value of it will be lower.

Based on my experience with PayPal, that is how PayPal usually displays those details:

Money received:
Amount received: a positive number
Fee amount: If you did not pay the fees, it is $0,00 USD. If you paid the fees, it is a negative number.
Net amount: a positive number (Amount received - | Fee amount |)*

There is a theoretical possibility that Net amount while receiving money can be a negative number but that would be possible only if | Fee amount | was a bigger number than Amount received and I do not know if PayPal allows such transactions.

Money sent:
Amount sent: a negative number
Fee amount: If you did not pay the fees, it is $0,00 USD. If you paid the fees, it is a negative number.
Net amount: a negative number (Amount sent - | Fee amount |)*

* | x | is an absolute value of x
