There is no "fix" for it. Demos only save state information. Changes to maps or networking protocols fuck all that up.

The only thing you can do is revert to an old version (the same version the demos were recorded in) of the game if you or anyone else has it. Sometimes updates don't break demos because no significant changes were made.
You should use startmovie or fraps to convert ASAP after taking a demo if you plan to save it.

yeah i have all the goodies to do it with, but had gone several months without this happening and didn't think anything of it as i had just then started making movies out of demos...i have a little footage from both, but for the most part their broken...not to mention my run through propel
