ok, so in early december there was all this hype going up about the tournament, i have seen nothing for a long time about it. What happened? are we still having it? I know frost got his internet pulled out from under him, but does this really hinder the entire tournament? or will it go on?

btw...mass punctuation ftw i know

To my knowledge, it is still happening. We are waiting for a sign-up page on the website here. Drunken F00l is working on that (last I heard). Hopefully when things are up and running, Frosty will be in good with his parents. :p

The holiday also slowed things as it would have been too hard to organize in the middle of the holiday season with many people gone/busy.

If you're interested, some of the Goldrush guys are running highlander matches for fun in the meantime. These are hosted on Bill Steed's server. They have a Steam Group with info on the when, where, server IP, etc. If you're not yet a part of that group, you can get an invite from myself or anyone else in it.

I haven't worked on the signup page in a while. The good news is, I'm about half way done and I was able to get that far in a single day. I should have some time this weekend and if I'm right about being half way done I can get it done then.

I'll probably have to cut some of the stuff I wanted to get done but isn't crucial (like making it pretty).

Also, Frost got Interweb-grounded by his mother.

He was the main driving force behind the tourney.

'twas his idea but he made me promise we'd go on without him. Now we don't have to and he's learned a healthy (yet unfair) lesson about pissing off the ones who control your Internetz.

Isn't there some sorta song about how "parents just don't understand"?

That was a rap song done by Will Smith in the late 80s I think.

Hah, I thought you were being sarcastic wishing there was a song about it.

Haha, ya....

It's still a good idea and something I'd like to do. When I get time, I'll make progress on it.

So I need a way for people to create and join teams. It needs to allow players to pick what server they are from. I was about half way through doing this and then haven't worked on it since then.

Unfortunately, programming isn't on my current skill set...that will be my next degree...

What I can offer is help with the mundane side of organizing. I don't know what you see as the scope of it, but depending on the model I could help drum up sponsorship, organize time slots/registrations, etc. I also know the owner of www.warfactory.net and I'm sure he would help us out in any way he could. He's done stuff for ESWC, MLG, and GotFrag.

When the time comes (if it comes), I'd love to see a SourceOP-sponsored tourney at a con somewhere. Why not be the leaders and make a market for ourselves? Maybe make a couple extra bucks, who knows? That and I'd love to talk smack to some of you people in person.

I can also think smaller than this if necessary.
