So I was trying to sell dat NV Billycock for 1.3 refs in trade servers and basically EVERYONE who trades me in response to my "SELL NV BILLYCOCK 1.3 REFS!!!" tradespam always and always ask me to show them the hat 1st before they make an offer

are they expecting me to put up a burning team captain renamed "NV Billycock" and redescribed "It actually has no effect, this is a glitch" or something??

The WORST thing that I ABSOLUTALY hate, is when I try to sell any hat for 1.33 ref, I fucking ALWAYS get people who asks "HEY I GIVE 1 REF FOR IT U WANNA TRADE?"

NO, I WANT MY FUCKING RECLAIMED METAL!!!!!

I loathe when people trade me after i've stated the price in chat and ask me how much.

And then when I tell them the price they say "Too expensive for me"

Do they expect me to drop the price just because someone trades me? :x

Yes, they do. It is called haggling. If you want to sell X and I show interest in buying X, I as the buyer have two options:

1. Simply accept the price you are asking and purchase the item for you

2. Offer a counter offer and see if you are interested.

Being the seller, you of course would prefer the first option. And while you claim to disagree, I guarentee that almost all sellers would prefer counter offers than no offers at all. I cant tell you how many times I see sellers get exasperated when they get no response after spamming chat for an hour.

If nothing else, it gives you a baseline for 'willing to pay' vs. 'willing to sell'. Also, depending on the item and how long one has been attempting to peddle it, one might take a reduced offer to simply get it sold.

Now, if you state in your pitch 'No other offers will be considered', then I understand.

As for OP's comments, yes, that would drive me mad...almost like your doing a showing as opposed to a sale.

I dont buy/sell/market anything in TF2 (I play the game), but the principles translate to other forms of merchant type sales models.
