What is this shit? (my game reviews for 2008)
#1

Not since windows ME have I had so many problems with games being pieces of incomplete shit.

The one game I could play without it sucking profusely is Sins of A solar empire, which is a great game and should be played by anybody mentally coherent enough to run a PC in the first place.

That being said, the other games this year are utter disappointments. Its like they don't even bother to finish making games, the ones that are finished are buggy to the point that (on half of computers) they are downright unplayable, and the developers aren't offering any help whatsoever.

Spore, lets talk about this. Half of my freinds who actually payed for the game can't get past certain stages because the game is so fucking buggy that they will have sporatic problems (for the most part, their creature and space stages are unplayable due to crashing). Not only that, but its like the game was a fucking 360 port in the first place. They added a complexity meter so that the useless M$ shitfest wouldn't teeter out with it's shitty PowerPC processor, they turned the controls down to suck and made it feel like a fucking MMO. They stole the cell stage from FLOW. God this game was a fucking brick. Who in the fuck decided to make one of the best games of all time and then fuck it up to go onto a shitty console.

AND YES, THE 360 IS STILL A PIECE OF SHIT, they STILL haven't fixed the red rings of death for fucks sake. The thing is essentially a shitty computer with no heat management. Any child can build a PC these days, why in the fuck can't they get the 360 to run?

Mass Effect only works right if you steal it.

Bioshock was okay if you play it on hard and download a trainer to make it harder than that so it doesn't get repetitive.

Second is Mercenaries 2, which turned out to be better than spore. Its graphics are shit, it only runs at FOUR resolutions, IT HAS SCREEN TEARS ON A FUCKING HIGH-END GAMING PC. But guess what? They made it actually use a PC's controller properly. This makes it a fun sandbox shooter and I have been playing this MORE than spore because spore was shitty. Who would have thought that a console port would be better than a PC title trying not to be a console port.

Devil may cry was only good if you bought a "Microsoft Certified Ergonomic Gaming Controller With wireless RF receiver for Windows Vista" (also known as a 360 controller, or that thing that wishes it wasn't a shameful combination of a gamecube controller and a dualshock) because you had to use the arrow keys to move, but the numpad as directions in combo's (lawl) unless you had a controller

as far as games go, I can safely stick to Garry's mod and TF2.

I might post more once I remember what other games I was horrified by...

There's a homebrew solution to that, you know. I was amazed when I heard what the error was actually from... even before I read the suggested fix I knew immediately how to correct it. But then, I am an engineer.

Still, it's a simple enough fix anyone could do it with instructions.

Only red rings I've seen from peoples 360s are due to the individual outright fucking up the system either by setting it at weird angles or throwing it somewhere it can't circulate air, like one guy who left his on his carpet. When it was opened, it looked like it had sucked up what looked like crushed graham cracker.

Only games I had my eyes on were Spore, Fallout 3, Borderlands, and Prototype.

Sadly the latter two were pushed back til next year.

You two, yes. D2 has huge replayability.

I love doom3 co-op, even though I haven't played with a real player yet.

TF2 is fine but unfortunately source is a massive peice of unoptimized shit.

Crysis and all the other high-tech-fps-nerd games suck.

Crysis was fun and challenging. Mediocre story. BEAUTIFUL graphics. Retarded AI(sometimes).

Flying level pissed me the fuck off. Got to a certain point and the controls became comepletely unresponsive. I crashed 12 times... Naquadria had the same problem.
