You can join in and shit in the street, too. Telling people not to shit in the street is futile; people have always shit in the street, and always will shit in the street.

OR, you can choose to walk carefully, look where you tread, and point out the poo to other travellers. Either way will get you through the day, of course, and not shitting in the street is more inconvenient.
