Sorry for the downtime today
#1

The accounting department of my host took down all my servers today (web, game, etc.). I called them and they said the credit card on file was declined (which didn't make sense 'cause I'm a balla). They said the expiration date on file was current, so that wasn't the issue.

So... I called the credit card company. They eventually told me that the charge was getting declined because of an "expired" expiration date.

I called my host back. It turns out the date they had on file was off by a month, and the credit card company refused it even though it was current. They ran the card with the new date and it worked fine.

A little under an hour passed, and nothing happened. I called back and I guess they forgot to turn the servers back on.

Anyways! All is good now. The servers are back up. I'm sorry for the downtime this afternoon.

What a terrible company. How long have you been with them and they just cut you off without contacting you about alternative payment?

That's almost as bad as Websense. I am the systems admin at a private school and our purchasing person was suddenly replaced. Because of the confusion, we didn't renew our Websense contract and they simply cut off our filtering service without telling us, and we didn't find out til we saw some 8th graders looking at porn in the library...

Needless to say we're no longer using that pos company.

Well, to be fair they did contact me a week in advance via email. However, I never check the email they sent it to so I found out about it once they shut everything down.
