And it would be nice to have been given at least a message knowing why, as I've been kicked before for what I think are stupid reasons and it's really annoying after waiting 10 minutes to join and climbing to the top of the scoreboard.

Again, not my problem. I am sorry that you were annoyed by it but you'll live. Don't get into arguments like that on the server and you won't be kicked in the future.

To be honest, nobody deserves respect for being an admin.

So we should just treat DF like shit? It's not like the man has to pay for the servers we play on. As for the rest of the admins, we don't ask for it. I would assume it would be nice to give it since anytime you would have a problem we're there to fix it for free and without a thank you most of the time.

Having an authority over anyone or anything does not mean you are a superior human and it does not mean you can shove anyone around because you feel "personally offended".

No one said they were superior. If you're referring to the above case where I kicked them for talking it had nothing to do with personal feelings.

Personal insults are not illegal. People are insulting all the time on the servers, just because it is against an admin does not make it a special situation and it shouldn't. The server rules state no racism and sexism, and that is about it, but as far as I see anyone is free to criticize or be a jerk to anyone provided it is related to in-game issues, and not personal issues.

Where does it state this? Also, being an admin on SourceOP is more of a judgment call than anything else. The reason there's not any set in stone rules, is because people are expected to act accordingly. We're all a bunch of adults here and should treat one another with common respect.

In game fights and bickering will happen no matter what. If it gets so bad that it starts to disrupt the server, you may end up gagged or banned. Our job is to keep the server running smoothly and if you're hindering that from happening you will be dealt with.

You're wrong because I didn't kick him for insulting me and you're jumping in about a situation you know nothing about. Stating your opinions is fine but on this particular matter, you don't know the story and therefore have no right to judge whether or not there was an "abuse of authority".

This is the 2nd time this member has been reprimanded on SourceOP in his entire history of being here and this is the 2nd time he's come to the forums, claimed admin abuse, etc.

Everyone has a right to state their case which is also why I always keep record, chat logs and other proof of incident on any and every person I take admin action against.

The forum is a place for open discussion and since he chose to bring up an incident I had with him 2 months ago that he clearly still hasn't gotten over and refer to "retarded admins" when he knows I am the person who took action on him last time, this is an insult to me.

I have the right to reply the same as anyone else. So I told him I don't appreciate that, especially since I had nothing to do with this current complaint. My reply has nothing to do with what admin action was taken on him this or last time.

No you definitely did kick me because you took something I said as an insult. It wasn't even intended to be an insult, but you misunderstood me. Look at the last thread. This is what you said.

And you insulted me publicly as a way of trying to continue to get at Duplex. You're lucky the ban I gave you was only for a few minutes.

Maybe if we can discuss this once again, we can finally get past this. Luckily I am a very patient person and I truly do not want anyone to feel that an injustice was served on them by me so I will try once again to explain but after this, I am done. If you fail to drop it, then so be it.

I kicked you and the other 2 individuals who refused to stop when I asked you repeatedly to stop baiting, arguing with and trying to votekick Half-Duplex. Duplex was also reprimanded with a temp ban and a private chat from me in which he apologized and agreed to stop his negative behavior. He came back after his ban and put the other 2 on mute so he wouldn't be tempted to argue with them. He even played as a team player and did not make any negative comments to the team after that point (as I had told him it would result in another, longer ban if he did).

That should have been case-closed.

You weren't kicked for insulting me. You were kicked for ignoring me asking you to stop going back and forth with Duplex. You also argued with me when I said that anyone who continued to spam votekick on Duplex would be banned for votekick abuse because the matter had already been dealt with.

The matter was dealt with privately because I prefer not to argue publicly on the servers with individuals. It causes more of a scene than necessary and interrupts the game for others.

We've already went over this several times. I also told you (as I tell everyone) that you are more than welcome to discuss it with me if you think you were treated unfairly. However, I don't know how many other ways to explain this to you.

I know what you're referring to when you say you didn't mean for it to be an insult and I totally understand. I didn't take that as an insult. You were repeating something that Duplex said, albeit twisting his words around to try to bait him into arguing with you, but still, that's not what you were kicked for and I was in no way offended by that comment.

You were kicked after the comment which could be why you think it was a result of the comment, so I suppose I could understand you thinking that when you first came to the forums with your complaint. However, after explaining it at least 3 times, I'm not sure what else I can do.

You seem to still (months later) be holding onto the fact that you think that's what I kicked you for when I've explained multiple times that this was NOT the reason. You seem to be an intelligent and fairly reasonable person so I'm not sure why you are so hung up on this incident and failing to understand what I've explained over and over.

I did not kick you because you repeated Duplex's comment about me. You were kicked, along with 2 others, when I repeatedly said in admin control panel (green chat, you can't miss it):

You refused to drop it and you buddied up with the other 2 individuals that I have had multiple problems with in the past (including the previous night). Unfortunately, because you made the choice to go along with those 2 guys, you were reprimanded the same as them. If you had dropped it when you were asked, you wouldn't have had a problem at all. You expressed that Duplex was bothering you and I made sure the server knew that an admin was there handling the situation. From that point on, you should have dropped it.

The three of you were causing more of a scene than anything Duplex had done and the rest of your team was asking you all to shut up (ie. "just mute him", "get over it", "let the admin handle it", etc.)

It's like the mob theory, in a sense. The three of you ganging up on Duplex was making such a scene that it interrupted the gameplay of others. There were people on your team that actually said they had to stop playing and mute ALL 4 OF YOU. That's just ridiculous. This went on for multiple rounds and it was on the verge of causing people to want to leave the server just to not have to listen to any of you anymore.

I would not be doing my job if I allowed that type of activity to continue and ruin the game experience for the other players. You were given multiple warnings to stop (which is more than fair, IMO) and when none of you did, all of you were removed from the server.

I've shown you far more patience, kindness and understanding than I'm sure any other admins here would have. I have taken up minutes of my day to explain the situation to you so that you were have a clearer understanding on where I was coming from that night I kicked you (and only for a few minutes at that!)

However, you fail to give me even common human courtesy back. You make stabs and cracks towards me in a post about an incident that I didn't even have anything to do with and that was highly inappropriate. You express that you have a personal problem with bigotry, which I can clearly relate to and agree with and yet with this small matter with me, you refuse to budge an inch or even to listen to what I have to say. I would have though you would be more understanding than that.

You're too busy trying to prove a point or prove me wrong to see anything other than your own clouded judgment regarding the situation. I never insulted you, I never called you names and I never disrespected you in any way. I don't deserve to continue to be treated this way.

It's not my job to make sure you see what I say, that's your job. Out of courtesy I said it twice before I kicked you. I could have just said nothing and kicked/banned/gagged you.

To make sure that everyone on the server is there to play and have fun. If you're that concerned with what an admin can do, or me in particular, you're welcome to take it up with DF.

Honestly what you should have done in the first place is not responded at all, shut your mouth and just left it alone. Clearly you have a problem with being told what to do or that what you're doing is wrong. This is also not my problem.

OK I don't really want to read those huge walls of ranting text (I think it's childish and not very constructive to pick apart someone else's post and try to be inflammatory about the whole thing) but clearly I've hurt both of your feelings, which was not my intention. But I see that administrator talent is on par with wal-mart management (maybe wal-mart should be an admin here? tehehe)

I like DF, always thought he listened to what people had to say and was nice and all. Every time I want to donate to this server I run into retarded mods, however. Whatevz...
