Reserved Slot Hotkey
#1

Hi, sorry if I'm in the wrong section, but I have a question. Is it possible to set the connect *ip.ip.ip.ip* command that you have to put in the console to a hotkey? Maybe run a little script or something?
I also have to join an empty server before I can open the console, I have it enabled in settings and changed my shortcut key, but when I launch TF2 and press that console-key, nothing happens. Anyone got an idea how to open console while not on a server and in the main menu?

I browsed the forum, but couldn't find any related topic to this.

Hey,

To get the console when you launch the game add -console to tf2's launch options.

-novid -console

-novid removes the valve animation.

(To get the launch options, go to your library and right click Team Fortress 2)

To your other point, there are custom menus that some people have submitted here that add buttons to connect to sourceop's servers you can search for that.

Personnally, what I do is add this to my autoexec.cfg

alias goldrush "connect 74.55.49.245:27015"
alias 2fort "connect 67.228.59.147:27015"
alias valve1 "connect 67.228.59.145:27015"
alias valve2 "connect 74.55.49.243:27015"

Then when the server's full and I can't join through a friend, I type 'goldrush' in the console after launching tf2.

This avoids having to reinstall the custom stuff or update it when valve updates the game.

Thanks for your elaborate reply. I want to try the option from your quote, but where could I find the autoexec.cfg. Kinda searched for it but nothing would pop up in Win's search option. I also couldn't really find any custom menu's or something that you stated before. But maybe my searching skills aren't that good, I'm not used to this forum yet.

I searched for menu and this was in the results

http://www.sourceop.com/modules.php?name...light=menu

For the autoexec.cfg file

it should be in there

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\franksterqc\team fortress 2\tf\cfg

If its not, just create one. It's a regular txt file just change the extension to .cfg and add the stuff I posted before.

Good luck!

Havent dont it in a while, but you can mod menu.res (if i remember correctly?) and add the server nicknames with the IP addresses and they will actually show as buttons on the game menu and check you click them it acts as if you are connecting via console.

After a few HDD formats, I use the console manually as I have been too lazy to mod the file again, but it worked well for me. I had both rotation servers and both 2fort servers right on the game menu...the ultimate in seemless laziness...lol

I use a console menu script most times, quite nifty, gotta select the community and then their server first, lol...

does anybody know a console command to open the servers properties? so I could open a server properties to see if any is on etc.

lost too many times the favorites (with the new steam client where the hell are they stored :S)
