Overpriced rare items you can't use
#1

You know, I can understand why someone would want to spend alot on a community sparkle big kill or cloudy moon team captain. Atleast everyone in game can see that you have something special and unique. Plus, it makes your in-game character just look badass. Everyone in the server sees it and is like WOW. Ok I get it, you like to be special.

However what is the deal with people spending hundreds on very minor cosmetic things like the vintage lumbricous lid. Besides blue text and some people being surprised by its existence, isn't much of a conversation piece or something the masses would appreciate. Or the "painted" cow mangler that doesn't even show up painted in game. If you're in an instatnt respawn server, no one even notices.

But the ones that are really like omg are you fucken serious are stuff that aren't even visible without someone going in your backpack. I mean like the "clean" unusual scrap metal which would lose value if you actually used it or "the self made key" which by now probably doesn't belong to any of the original owners. I mean, whenever I see it in someonee's backpack I think, omg this person is ridiculous. I mean it'd be special if like it guranteed uncrating an unusual or like could be used a 100 times. But no, its just a key with a couple mini starburst images on it. Big whoop

I mean, really, Why? I mean you could have a bunch of nice unusuals everyone is like wow or or a key of which a good chunk of the tf2 population won't even notice you have and of those that do notice, a sizable chunk think you're ridiculous.

i see your point, but people just like rare things, it makes them feel special even if no one else knows it, like barbie doll collectors

The balaclavas and value of teamwork cow manglers do indeed change the colour of the weapon and also the laser colour in game, the balaclavas is very dark and difficult to see. There's no difference with the TS painted ones though.

But yeah I agree. People thinking stock deus specs are 70 buds just because they were a hiccup in steam support are having a laugh.

i dunno, i guess rarity and collecting things others dont own, like collecting rare paintings or stamps, except u can only see the rare items in the bp instead of ingame, i like collecting rare things as well, but something like an unusual is far more fun than some vintage scrap or buds.

How could you screw up the capitalization in your signature like that? Not only are you defying common sense and grammar, you are even defying your own rules of writing as the "is" is correctly capitalized.

It's the fact that some people attach value to other's worthless shit that drives trading.

Once everybody "agrees" on set values for everything it becomes a mostly souless, joyless chore.

Apparently the deus specs guy got offered a community luger and a vintage gibus and didn't immediatley jump down the guy's throat. It's a strange world...

I know right?

The whole trading community is irrational so I try to get out of it as fast as possible. I mean why the fuck would you trade a decent unusual for some vintage alien swarm parasite? You may brag with it to your trader butt buddies but ingame you will look like an f2p. I find it disgusting how people downvalue unusuals nowadays and put promos on a pedestal. Yeah unusuals can be unboxed any time but there are a shitload of hats and effect combinations out there so while the number of total unusuals grows fast the number of certain ones grows pretty slowly. The interesting thing is that most of those oddities are being sharked or sold by russians who inflate their price like crazy. There are 1 of 1 halloween unusuals out there no one really cares about because they're ugly. But so are the rare vintages. Why someone would pay 28 the times an item is worth just for blue text is beyond me.
