Recently I decided to take a break from Team Fortress 2 as a way of regaining interest in the game and give myself time to get my driver's license.
Despite the upcoming scout update I had been eager to see since class changes were first announced, I do not believe I will be hanging around to test out any new toys when they finally roll out. This could be a product of boredom, some deep seeded psychological programing that wants me to seek higher education, the well water I drink perhaps contained mercury, the wall candy wasn't as healthy as I thought, or possibly I've developed an immunity to my pills. At this point I can't tell.
What I do know is the likelihood that I'll return has dropped considerably as I glance at the gifts I recieved before the new year and will probably drop gradually as new games catch my interest.
It has been fun, and there is always the chance I relapse like we all know Robert Downey Jr. will in a year or so. In the off chance it doesn't happen, its been fun playing with most of you.

Everything dies, no matter who or what it is.
I would say TF2 has done better than most games when it comes to longevity. Usually games start out strong and fade away within a year or so. TF2 has lasted two so far and is still going relatively strong. Every now and then, I will stop playing TF2 for months on end, because something else peaks my interest. But I keep coming back. CoD, Crysis, DoW... it doesn't matter what it is, I just keep coming back to TF2 because it's the only thing that always seems fresh.

Would have to agree 100% on that one. I've played many FPS games in my time and I've never had a more exciting experience than with TF2. The only thing is at times it truly can get boring, especially when u don't have a good team to play with. This is where the SourceOP server comes into play. If it wasn't for the good group of regulars that actually know what they are doing, the game wouldn't be half as fun. This is why I believe Valve tried to bank on this "teamwork" method with L4D but it's kinda failed as L4D gets tiring way too quick. I know 1 day TF2 will be a memory but I have strong beliefs that TF2 will far succeed CSS.

As a matter of fact, yeah I do.
Two players left for some time? Oh giddy god, oh noes!
Valve sells around 30-40 copies everyday

As I told ya, be sure you stay in touch, even if you're not playing.
Also, the well water will cause an immunity to your pills, especially if it's been infected with alien spawn. I'd have an expert look into that.

But wait Kou, you haven't scrimmed H20 yet... you can't leave.
:o
JK.
But I'm in the same boat, my Christmas goodies have opened up a few windows for me (or so I'm hoping). If all goes to goes to plan, I won't be back till Demo updates ha.
But good luck on your search for new things - hope you find whatever it is that you are looking for.
See you space cowboy...
