Did anyone else think of the combat shotgun from Fallout 3 when they saw that video, or am I just a nerd? =X
I think the most drool-worthy firearm I've seen on Future Weapons was the Barrett M107. Has anyone else seen that episode? It is a .50 Cal sniper rifle that keeps its accuracy at insane ranges. I wouldn't be surprised if it took off a limb at over 400 yards.
I wasn't very impressed with the shotgun in the video, but I've never been into shotguns since I'm more of a target shooting person. I can appreciate the importance of a weapon like this in urban/CQ environments in Iraq and Afghanistan, but I don't see it replacing the M16A3 in practicality and versatility.
I also saw a really wonky rifle on Future Weapons once. The barrel could actually be turned horizontally so that the soldier could see and shoot around corners!! I watched the program on it and still didn't understand the mechanics behind the gun. *L* Apparently it is really expensive to manufacture too, but I think it is worth every penny for our military.
