just saying the razer sucked. it was so light you really only had the option of playing with super low sensitivity. all the reviews i read about it hyped it up with quotes like "you get banned from counter strike servers for having this mouse". i dont think im the best FPS'er out there but comparatively to other mice with weight options and the like it was way overpriced. i had the razer diamondback 3g though. i think i tossed the mouse twice and it broke when losing 5-10 minute arena matches in wow.

518 is 30 bucks cheaper actually.
It's probably an awesome mouse, but I don't need the weights and high dpi.
The ergonomics is all i really need.

518's MSRP is the same as the g500's.
and I have yet to see the 518 at a reputible dealer for less than 50$
