In the context of this article they're just as much a manufacturer as Razer or any other pre-built computer or peripheral seller. These companies all research, design, engineer, prototype, source and spec their products internally and then sub-contract the assembly to Chinese factories.

They don't manufacture anything, they buy them from Foxconn (literally).

I mean they design the cases and assign what parts that are put in them, but they don't even design the parts anymore, that's all handled by outsourced groups. They literally do nothing but assign aethetics.

I'd be surprised if they even handled post fabrication these days.

Kotaku has recently discovered the principle of "nerd baiting", they encourage their authors to write incredibly retarded articles about general topics to create attention and to generate more views, traffic, ect. When you want to discuss something about Kotaku, please dont link to their site, thats exactly what they want. Copy and paste it to http://pastebin.com/ for example.

I think I didnt have the time to explain myself correctly on this one. Kotaku isnt a news site, its a blog disguised as a news site. Their blog(s) are the opinions of single "freelance authors", who get paid on a CPM basis. They have generally 2 different kinds of authors, one that tries to deliver news, informative articles and writes about 5 topics per week to gain additional income to their main job. Then there are the ones that purposely write retarded crap (razer blade; their "interesting" article about competitive gaming; their 20th post about PC Gaming dying as prime example, but there are way more) once per week and then spend the rest of their week thinking about their next topic. I dont follow Kotaku that closely, but there only seem to be 3-4 writers of category #2 and sadly, you are suporting these guys directly by generating views for them by linking their article. The sad part is, category #2 gets about the same or more income as category #1, despite their inferiority in quality and quantity of posts.



TL;DR version: Yes, not everyone is bad, but there is no need to encourage the bad ones by giving them money via linking their articles. BUT: The admin(s) of Kotaku dont discourage the BS some authors write (e.g. admin statement to kotakus competitive gaming article).
