I fucking hate Saw
#1

So I just got done watching Saw IV for the first time. And I'm noticing an element that seems to be running with the movies. They keep getting worse. Now I'm not saying that the Saw movies are bad. After #1 they just aren't worthy of the term good. They are average, the kind of movie you watch to remain entertained for a couple of hours while you're waiting for steam to finish downloading and installing a new game. (or maybe that's just me) But it seems to me like the movies are just gradually trying to see how much they can get away with showing, while remaining under an NC-17 rating. For example.

Saw featured gore, the standard blood and guts stuff. But in an actually entertaining and somewhat realistic (and therefore scary) way.

Saw 2 decided to add in drug use and references

Saw 3 features full frontal female nudity

and finally Saw 4 decided to throw in old man balls, which on the big screen were probably 4 feet of shrivelly testes right up in the front row's face...

What is up with Hollywood today? It's like they are all so horribly unoriginal that they need to milk the same mediocre story as much as they possibly can, while trying to keep the publics interest by being more edgy with each new installment.

Speaking of storylines, who can follow these ones? The only one I could fully understand was the first one. It was about 70/30 on the second. After that the movies literally make no sense at all. You have no idea when or why the events are happening, and unless you feel like spending 20 minutes on the internet searching the movie itself doesn't tell you!

So all in all, I'd say if you enjoy horror movies and have time you REALLY don't care about wasting. Go ahead and check the Saw movies out. But to be honest I'd probably rather watch the Hitchhikers Guide To the Galaxy, seeing as it's easier to follow.

I love the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy!
And I agree with you- Saw is terrible. I never really understood the point of it. It just seemed like an excuse to get all sorts of gore and stuff into a movie. Maybe if they had stopped at the first one, it would be decent, but all the sequels just got worse.

The "Saw" movies should have ended with Saw III.

The original writer for Saw "Leigh Whannell" wrote 1 through 3 i and killed the character in saw3 basically wanting to end the series i'm sure, but hollywood won't let good selling series' die. IV was fucking horribly extending the shit as far as they could and 5 was the worst peice of garbage I ever seen. Especially the fact that on all the movie posters they kept saying "You won't believe how it ends" Well i'm not trying to spoil the ending for anyone but there was no surprise at the ending at all, it was bullshit hype to make people go see it. Saw VI i'm not going to even watch, i love how they keep trying to find older shit in Saw 1 through 3 to match up to the new ones they keep coming out with now, like "That extra in the back of saw 1 was helping the new jigsaw the whole time!"

The original Saw was badass, #2 was just okay, #3 tied up everything nicely and killed the main dude but now all these new sequels just suck and I hope they just end the series altogether soon unless they get the original writer back but even then it still wouldn't be as good.

I consider saw torture porn (also in that category is Hostel). It's not really horror, it doesn't really have any good plot. It only exists to gross people out and make them cringe.

Torture porn is stupid.

The BBC version of hitch hiker's guide was amazing. I had to stop watching the new movie 30 minutes into it. I know that not even the book's cannon is actually cannon, but the trilogy in five parts is just so much more entertaining.
