I play for the scoreboard and cap too, and at the same time I check my rank every now and then but I don't let it keep me from trying to be as helpful to my team as I can be. And I know those are factors in what keeps people coming back, because the quality of the servers and players is what kept me here since late October of last year. I'm not saying that these servers need hlstatsx by any means. But I assure you hlstatsx plays a small part in grasping people, at least initially, if at no other time.
And hlstatsx isn't just for the players, it gives the server op somewhat valuable information on the servers recent activity history as well. Whether it be what map/what time the server crashed, what map is dropping players or who's on the servers and where they are playing from or even how many unique ID's have joined the server in the last 24 hours, it gives more detailed information than any other site that I know of. For example if I needed to check my server logs for some reason, I use hlstatsx as a reference so I don't have to sift through hundreds of log files trying to find the one pertaining to the issue/event I'm looking for.
