Yeah, but the problem is, Goldrush requires more teamwork than all the other modes or maps.

To be fair, Goldrush isn't balanced around a server with 33 players. Not that I mind too terribly much as I enjoy the mayhem, but I think it's important to keep that into perspective. There are a lot more people protecting that bottle neck.
Sure, there are alternate routes to get to the final cap, but the objective still needs to travel through the same small spot.

The secret is to ignore the cart. After clearing the first portion, immediately move to the end point before they can respawn. Then, just let some idiot push the cart in while the defending team gets owned. Takes some team coordination but it works well.

I've had a lot of success with going the back-left way as a heavy with a medic and camping their spawn. It never lasts long but even a 10-15 second disruption is almost always enough to break the line (assuming you have good enough people on your team to have a steady flow of ubers, which isn't usually a problem on this server)
The main problem is having that path clear of sentries. But when it is, I have huge success with that strategy.
