apperantly, Origin has spyware and it resigsters EVERYTHING you install, download, and even the websites you visit. Basically, EA IS STALKING YOU FROM YOUR OWN PC. DO NOT INSTALL ORIGIN AT ALL. DO NOT USE THAT STEAM RIP OFF. :!:

Realistically, I am sure you are giving them permission to gather all that data by agreeing to the terms and conditions during install. Since most of us dont read those disclosures, it is fair to say that most people wouldnt have known.
I am assuming that to remain competitive, EA may adjust the software given the large outcry.
mrmason - I saw the earlier thread where you an another poster went back and forth about the BF3 topic. This is cleary not related to that SOp thead. Here is a link to an article:

Why shouldn't it be on Steam?
Origin is just an attempt by EA to make a move into the digital distribution market, by taking advantage of their monopoly on a few great games. It's nothing but an inconvenience to Steam users, I mean, why should anybody have to install two digital download programs just to play games from different distributors?
This whole thing about EA having permission to gather data however isn't really that bad in my opinion, it's just being used by opponents of Origin to make it look bad.

That's true, I just hope that EA don't manage to lessen the users experience with Battlelog and Origin.

The only reason why its usuing origine is because steam has some type of shitty DLC policy. And battleblog looks like its gonna be sick

I'm sure it has nothing to do with their wanting people to use their shitty digital distribution scheme. It's all steams DLC policy.
To be honest my only problem is we're moving back into the days where we had to have eleven different programs up just to play our games.
Of course that was with messaging clients and this is with game launchers but I mean if you play a lot of games and every company does this we'll have Steam, origin, D2B, Games for Windows Live Skyplace Marketplace, and whatever new shell they want to wrap their game in. If I gave half a shit about Medal of Duty or whatever game their doing this with then I'd boycott it just to avoid encouraging dipshits to make more non-unified game wrappers.
I would love steam to die though, steam was shit from the day it was launched.

That's because they want to do those stupid promotional deals with dlc, GET THIS STUPID SKIN NOBODY WANTS IF YOU BUY IT FROM BEST BUY.

Exactly, that was annoying as all hell but god forbid anyone complain about that. Desiring convenience=The devil.
Why do you think there are programs like pidgin? Because nobody wants to have 3 fucking programs open in the background just because one person prefers msn over yahoo.
I was a commando you know.

Can you explain why?
All it is is another thing that gamers have to deal with when they're just trying to play their game, on top of Origin. The way that it works is that there will be no ingame server browser, and you'll be forced to launch the game from Origin, which will then send you to the Battlelog page in your web browser, where you will then be able to choose a server. THEN the game will launch, and if you want to join a different server, you have to close the game and go through the whole process again.
Doesn't sound very "sick" to me.
