for the time being though your making 2X what you spend a month, do you really need to change it, i mean really, lets not get to greedy here unless your trying to get like a billion servers, and monopolizes the world of TF2 :roll:

Increase number of slots to 16 and see how things go.
Reserved slots should be exempt from auto-balance.
Increase the minimum donation for receiving a reserved slot.

well if you wana cut down the donations, limit the number of slots you have to sell, this will also remove the problem of people not being able to use there slots

What about a monthly raffle to doners? Then you could limit the numbers and still maintain that sense that they really are more of a thank-you then a paid seat.

I don't have reserved slot, but I play on the sourceop servers pretty regularly, and almost exclusively. So, along with Ret, i have a pretty unique perspective in the forums.

Basically I feel that if the reserved slots are increased to all 32, then it's not a donation--silver fox is right. It is a fee to play, and the server is not really a public server. New people are allowed on only if the server isn't full of donors, and can be kicked at any time. With the massive popularity of the servers at the moment, I feel that the actual probability of new people being able to play on the server is pretty slim.

But I also understand that if you donate, you expect to play on the server. That seems quite reasonable to me.

So I think increasing to 16 is the best move, since it allows more spots for donors, but doesn't make the whole server fee-based. However, this is no more than a stop-gap solution, since the real problem here is basic supply and demand. I know there is valvemaps #2, and i guess more should be added as required, with similar proportions of donors to non-donors.

I really like the half-and-half idea. Half for people with slots, half for people who don't. Makes sense in the long run.

i think we need to keep the limit at 12 cause its like impossible to get onto the valvemaps server only 1 guy leaves like every half an hour and i dont want to wate that long or pay for a reserved slot
