DAMNED NOOBS
#1

So earlier today, I say to myself that I will start to really PLAY TF2 and enjoy all aspects of it (gaming and trading alike).

So through a series of conversations and rejections, I end up here! SourceOP! Seems like the perfect place to get started right? NOPE! It's impossible to gain a reputation, because no one will sell you anything, because you have no reputation. So now I'm stuck in this deadly cycle where I am desperately trying to gain a reputation, but no one is willing to give me the time of day.

What exactly are you trying to buy? Sometime you might have to start small with tiny purchases. A brand new account is a bit risky for people to trust because the new person might be a scammer. Just do small amounts of cash for keys and buds and trade those for the items you want.

First off, put your steamid32 and 64 in your rep thread so it doesn't close down.

2nd, Do smaller purchases OR use a middleman, you can still gain rep in a middleman trade.

3rd, If you wanna get known, go to the popular trade servers (UTC, TF2T etc), and then just trade, talk and get to know people. Don't change your name too often, people will not recognize you all the time if you change it.

4th, abide by the golden rule, treat others like how you'd like to be treated.

5th, Stay away from the Flame Bucket, it's filled with brainless trolls who feel the obligation to shit talk and talk non sense. They are believed to be the cancer of SourceOP, the fuzzy end of the lollipop, the asshole of the earth, however you see fit, they're not nice people. definitely not a good place for new comers.

Thanks for the tips guys. Smile
I'll make sure do all those things.
And I was trying to buy Earbuds for $27 cash, but some people even refused to use an OMM. It's understandable though.

I didn't have much rep either when i started buying today but i bought from some low rep traders and they were fine with me not being verified and not having much rep.

Good luck.

I just paid attention to the sticky posts. I didn't have a problem outside of having to be patient.

You DO realize the entire point of the flame bucket is to rage and get into internet arguments, also known as 'flame wars', right?

I got my first rep on the first day I was here.
That thread got closed... the second day I got my second rep thread complete with rep. It really isn't that hard, even just getting non cash trade reps helps you look good.
