Changes coming to reserved slot system
#1

So I made some changes to the code that verifies reserve slot users.

Before, it appeared that a connecting client's SteamID was not available at the immediate moment that a player connected. Because of this, I had to base reserved slot users off of name and IP address and then update that information when SteamID became available.

However, I have now discovered a way to get a client's SteamID at the immediate moment that he or she connects (if any coders out there want full details about this, contact me and I will work with you). I will be updating the reserved slot system to take advantage of this and then updating the servers later. This means that a player who's IP address or name changes will no longer be rejected by the reserve slot system as it has done in the past.

I hope this makes at least somebody happy.

As long as you are working on the mod I will be happy...

Cool. Out of curiosity, will the system kick someone who has a reserved slot if they happen to be performing the worst?

No, players with active reserved slots are immune. However, if all reserved slots are in use (eight) and the player did not obtain one when he or she connected, that player is subject to kicking like any other player.

But the general answer to your question is no, players with reserved slots will not be kicked.

Ah, I didn't realize there are a limited number of reserver slots available. How many are in use at any given time, would you say?

It used to be 4, but that limit kept getting hit and people were complaining. I agreed that it was kind of low so I increased it to 8. I haven't seen them fill up since. So, therefore, I would say around 4 are in use at any time.
