As some regulars on the Valve maps rotation server know, half of the time, the next map 'sucks'. I noticed this trend when heading towards maps like plr_hightower, cp_mountainlab, and ctf_well.
Some people seek alernatives to the reality that these maps bring to their tables. Temporary alternatives like admins changing maps or just leaving the game. But lately, I'm hearing more and more whining about changing the rotation and getting rid of maps in their entirety. I do not wish for this. So, I'm presenting my own idea, concerning the voting system.
The voting system is set up in a simple fashion. The votes are cast once there is less than 330 seconds left on the map. There are two options, skip or play the next map. There are several holes in this system, but I am "butthurt" about one giant abyss in this less-than-impressive implementation of democracy.
My non-personal problem
The map automatically changes after one team wins 4 rounds (on most maps). If rape is commenced on one team, before and after the team scramble, the vote is completely bypassed and people who probably wanted to skip the next map are now suck with (insert name of crap map here). This causes teams to not try and takes away from the gaming experience. (Why are you still reading this?)
My proposed solution
Instead of having the vote become active at only the 5:30 mark. I suggest that the vote also becomes active at the beginning of what could be the last round. This way, the majority of the winning (and/or losing) team(s) doesn't rage at the one non-regular who capped the final point.
Let's stop here... I'm not revising this crap...
