Don't get me wrong. I'm actually relatively new to the unusual business. However, there's something I'm actually bothered by.
When I unboxed my second unusual, that was the first unusual I wanted to sell because I didn't like it much. However, when I was browsing for trades on hats I liked, I always saw that people were saying "OVERPAY IN UNUSUALS" in outpost.
Okay, I get that. The logic behind that is pretty sound. You might not like it so you'll at least want some profit for going through the trouble of reselling it.
However, I've also seen that just sell for overpay. Doesn't that imply that people just trade unusuals for profit? I always valued unusuals as something you cherish for yourself. Are the people who trade unusuals for aesthetic pretty much gone? Or were there never many to begin with?

Oh, no. People still value unusuals for how they look. Any of the big collectors, or even people with nice hats will contest this. The thing is, there are two main reasons people only trade for profit on tf2op:
a) they are looking to use that profit to buy more unusuals they like
b) they are looking to just make some money (like you said)
It is usually a combination of both of these things. People who trade hats usually form an opinion on what looks the best, and keep those hats for themselves (unless they really need the money, then they cash out).

I suppose, but still, I really don't like how some people just do business in TF2OP. I guess I have to deal with it, but I still don't like it.

TF2OP has a reputation of housing some of the worse traders in TF2. It's been like that almost since it's creation. If it bothers you enough you can just stick to the sourceop forums to sell your unusual's, but if you want the additional exposure TF2OP gives then you are going to have to get used to the shitty traders that populate it.

People that use tf2 as a second source of income really grind my gears. They are ruining the whole trading community just to make some easy money by sitting in front of the pc.

has anyone forgot about tf2 trading post, tf2tp, isnt a bad website, but lowball heaven, ive gotten just as bad lowballs on tf2tp than outpost, but some really ridiculous offers on tf2tp like a scrap for a moon hustlers hallmark. and yes people should buy hats because they wanna wear it not to resell to make some extra cash at the expense of others.

What about bazaar.tf. That place is so underused, I mean they have a rule against quicksell threads. I just wish there was more people there.

Prices are all well and good, but the problem still lies with "for profit" traders, i.e. 1 scrap profit over two weeks of incessant bumping.
Even if something is set at a reasonable price, there's just too many pricks who want to lowball others/over value their own items... I have paid for everything I've wanted and whilst it might have cost me a little more, it sure beats having to wait days or weeks for someone to make a decision on $5....
In the end though, people should either play the game or just do something more "profitable" with their time (financially or otherwise).
EDIT - updated with slightly better paragraph structure.... meh

people are greedy, the aesthetics of a hat is what gave it its value in the first place, but most traders are more for making a profit than looking good, considering most of them don't even play the game anymore.
