ATI vs nVidia
#1

Hi guys,

im getting new pc soon and im trying to build the best configuration for me. Im about to get an ATI radeon 6790. If u can help me choose a video card.. Is ATI good choice or nvidia would be better and which one ? I not Milionaire so please dont suggest cards for 1000$+

Here is some info :
CM storm scout
650W cooler master gaming series
Gigabyte 880 GM (AMD3)
AMD Athlon 4x 3.00GHz
2 x 4GB RAM Transcedent i guess

I think that amd processor would e better than Intel one cause i need the pc for gaming and intel's products are way more expensive. I heard that intels are better for running multiple business applications while the amd is better for gaming..

AMD's are actually underpowered for gaming. Their most powerful card is a six-core, which isn't applicable for gaming, and it is easily outperformed (even in applications where a six core would be ideal) by the low-end i5 2500K.

Not only this but Intel has better features like SSD caching, in which you can buy a cheap 40-80 gig SSD and use it as the cache for an HDD of any capacity, giving you a boost of HD speed of up to 80%.

Same deal with ATI's. Nvidia's architecture is superior so any ATi card is going to have to be pushed to its limit in order to compete.

ATi has a slight advantage in the 150-200$ range, but that's hardly gaming grade these days and if you're buying in that range then plan for your computer to enter obsolescence with the next batch of gaming consoles.

Well here is another option:

CM Storm Scout
Gigabyte H55M
Intel i5 750 (2.8GHz)
CM 750W GX
GeForce GTX 550 (1GB)
Cosair RAM 2GB x 2

The GTX 550 is a GROSS card.

Your paying fo the 5XX series, when the 460 can be had for about the same price (I think) and will rape the SHIT out of it just by OCing (Can't even fucking call it that, it's more like hitting a button and winning)

Also, lot of those 470 cards are on clearance cause everyone wants the latest and greatest.

AMD owns ATi, and regardless they both suck ass.

Inte i5 if your not looking to spend too much, and want a socket 1156.

I own an I7 950 +2 GTX 460 HAWKs OCD to 1GhZ on air. I built the rig in December, and god is it awesome :3

P.S have fun with that board, price of trash. 0 upgradability. I'll get you one that doesnt blow.
What's your budget? I'll set you up with a nice setup.

P.S.S Are you planning to add another card in the future? Link to actual products, there's TONS of GEforce 550's. For the love of god don't chince out on a motherboard, worst idea EVER. Motherboard should be equal to your GFX card (if gaming) and processor (if working)

Or

http://ncix.com/products/?sku=48014&vpn=...cture=ASUS
Great boards, should last, USB and SAtA 3 (used by less than 1% of things ATM) 2nd is for 2x GPU's, so you don't need to trash everytime you upgrade.

Want an SSD?

Heatsink: http://ncix.com/products/?sku=41337&vpn=...OLERMASTER

Buy one regardless.

^Fuck you IPod, now I need to write everything out again
DVD Drive: http://ncix.com/products/?sku=45667&vpn=...re=Samsung

HDD:http://ncix.com/products/?sku=50895&vpn=...gital%20WD

Best drive EVER! 1TB might seem like a lot, but it fills up fast. If you think it's too much, I have a 500GB I originally bought, and replaced with this, that I can sell you.

RAM: http://ncix.com/products/?sku=57953&vpn=...=G%2ESkill

8GB

Or

4GB

Buy 8GB if you can, it's cheap and worth it. Ripjaw was meant for your build.

POwer supply: http://ncix.com/products/?sku=58382&vpn=...omoid=1338

Better version of yours, under 100$

Processor: http://ncix.com/products/?sku=54753&vpn=...ture=Intel

For some reason, the 760 is like 6X better than the 750, dunno why

CAse: http://ncix.com/products/?sku=38996&vpn=...OLERMASTER

HAF is a Beauty case, I use the HAF X, and I can't hear a thing over my fans. The HAF 922 is 30$ more than the scout, but the best 30$ you could ever spend.

PM me here or on steam if you need help, I'd recommend NCIX.com if your in Canada, or NCIXUS.com if your in US, most of these have sales on all their parts, and will pricematch with anythin in the same country. Sorry I couldn't get the click links working, on an IPod and it's 2:30 AM

Socket 1156 is gross. 1155 is what you're looking for.

If you're going i5 you'd be stupid not to go with a 2500.

Try http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6813138317

and

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6819115072

Also, if you're on a budget why would you blow 130$ on a case when a 30$ one will function identically?

He buys from ncix XD. Then he overpays for his gpu. And pays 130 bucks for a mid tower case on a budget build.

And for TF2 you can get full settings and 64x AA at 2560x1900 with a GTX280 because the engine is awful and renders everything on the processor.

Everything can be pricematched down, so it's as good as any place to buy.

Also, last time I checked 30$ cases had the ventilation of a cardboard box.

Good shot on the 1155 socket though, that ill agrée with.

Budget for me is like 1500$, just fYi, cause he never gave us a specific pricerange.
