I'm writing this in an attempt to call for a change. Hopefully a change that will bring population back to the servers.
Two things I hope we can all agree on:
Valve rotation server2 two is permanently unpopulated these days..
Pro-Rotation server has suffered the same fate.
Further observations:
Valve rotation server1 is not always populated like it used to be, but it does fill during peak times with mostly the active members of the SourceOP community members. This is typically the result of one of the usuals getting on, inviting others to jumpstart the server. It can be a chore to keep it populated.
This makes Valve rotation server2 not just redundant, but it makes it useless, since its rotation has a draw on the same players Valve1 has, but because it gets populated second, all the interested players go to Valve1 and Valve2 stays empty.
Pro-rotation was never really that successful. It was populated here and there, but not very much. I don't know how this can be remedied.
Valve2 seems like the easiest case to make for a change in its rotation. Though I know we may not all agree on what it should be changed to, it does seem logical to me that keeping it the way it is seems worse than trying to change it for a different rotation.
So my question, can we change the rotation of Valve2 server? If we can, what is the best way to go about deciding what it should be changed to?
I personally think a 24/7 server would be a good idea, given the steady population of the other 24/7 servers out there, including our own 2fort. The kinds of players who are drawn to 2fort are different from the players who are drawn to Goldrush and different from the ones who are drawn to Valve rotation maps. There is crossover, but that's only a small portion of player. I suggest making a 24/7 map of something very different from 2fort or GoldRush.A KOTH map like Viaduct or Harvest or maybe a cap-point/push map like Granary or Steel.
