Thanks, Drunken_F00l, I'll make sure to do that next time. But out of curiousity, don't you have access to at least a chat log from the game's text chat channels?
And, OmegaZero...

Did anything I wrote make it sound like I had never seen this happening before?
Quote:no, we don't care that you found a youtube video of somebody mic-abusing...
And what part of "they are in the valve maps server
right now", or "
I had to mute him six times before coming here" did you not get? Does any of that sound like something from YouTube?
I suppose I could have gotten a screenshot of people text chatting their reactions to voice channel spam...but it wouldn't constitute proof anymore than my word or the word of every other player there at the time, of which there definitely
is a list.
Folks here can take griefers as seriously as they do or don't want to, and the kind of people who choose to play here, or not, will be a direct result. I enjoy playing on this server, but I'm also the kind of person who will sacrifice a better ping or the hlstatsx ranks to play somewhere that effectively enforces rules about griefing or racism/derogatory comments.
Voice channel spam is not simply annoying, and constantly re-muting players as they rejoin means you have to stop playing every time you do it. When they are clearly targeting one team with this, it rises from simple griefing to attempting to use griefing as a cheating strategy. One team will empty out, and the other team will end up completely stacked as experienced players switch teams at first chance, and newbs who don't know the game controls keep joining and leaving the server when they end up on the "griefed" team. This is exactly what happened for that entire round of Dustbowl.
I think it's more than a little unrealistic to ask pubbers who aren't admins here to be taking, storing, and uploading demos or providing concrete proof of every kind of exploit and abuse that goes on. Messaging Drunken_F00l is entirely reasonable, I wish I had thought to, but I doubt that will work at all hours and I play more at odd hours than normal ones. I'm certainly not asking to be empowered in any way myself, I've found from experience that it detracts from my enjoyment of a game and I'd rather appreciate and applaud the efforts of those who do.
But having said that, I don't think an "innocent until proven guilty" approach is all that advisable with griefers. Accusations of cheating, sure, there are way too many erroneous accusations there. But I don't think the same standard should apply to banning griefers, in my experience it has always been better to ban them and make them come and state their case. There's a record of everyone who was on the server at the time, and usually there's a log of every game action and line of chat as well (if this game doesn't log the chat, I have no idea why- that's like a license to these idiots). Unlike in cases of accused cheating, the events are not subjective or open to interpretation.
I mean, forgive me for saying so, and no offense to Kaylee-she shouldn't have to put up with BS, but from what I've read this place has more pre-emptive enforcement against people who "mess with" Kaylee than people who "mess with" the entire server. And the two jerks who I mentioned were both members of other servers according to their profiles (Doorman is God for flying moron, and 4chan for ||||||||||) who were quite clearly out to screw with this place. If someone is going to come here and make false accusations of griefing, then you can ban that person when the truth comes out, but as someone who took the time to come here and try to help the server I honestly think you're better off not giving griefers the benefit of any doubt. Even if you end up reversing a ban because of lingering doubt, or someone's plea for mercy,
at least they would know how serious you were, and they'd be much less likely to ever do it again.
