I got banned instantly when I left the spawn
#1

I've been playing on SourceOP for a while now. I was playing about an hour ago, left, rejoined about an hour later and I get permabanned seconds later for "host_framerate set to 30". What does that even mean? I didn't change any host_framerate. I don't even know what it does. I'd appreciate some help or an explanation.

Why would I randomly start "cheating"? The only thing I do is join the server, change my name to FYI I AM SPYCHECKER, and walk around with a flamethrower holding M1 and getting engineers to thank me. I've done nothing to deserve this.

Thanks!

host_framerate can be used to speedhack, but it also appears that it never resets to default value once you use it once. I will unban you and remove the checks for it later today. If you play today, just type "host_framerate 0" (which is the default) in your console before connecting.

Thank you kindly. I honestly have no idea why it wasn't set to default. I'm not dumb enough to hack on my steam account. To many games on it.

Well it also has useful purposes such as controlling the frame rate during demo playback.

Shouldn't these cvars be synced with the server when client connects, regardless of what they were before?

I use that command for turning demos into movies but the bind I use to stop the recording sets all the values back to originals.

host_framerate was only an issue because it doesn't revert to its default on its own.
